ABOUT US

Serving the communities of San Luis Obispo County and Northern Santa Barbara County.

The Central Coast Childbirth Network, "CCCN",  grew from the desire to connect. A group of 60+ Professionals started a conversation in a private forum and decided our birth community needed to grow TOGETHER. As childbirth professionals & advocates we wanted a greater connection with each other. Most importantly, we wanted to build stronger connections with families on the Central Coast.

Supporting families from preconception through the first year of parenting is at the forefront of the CCCN mission and vision. Together with our members, providers, and advocates, we aim to create programs and services to increase access to resources, support informed decision-making, and improve the health and well-being of our community.

Programs and Services

Professionals to Community "PtC"

This program has a focus to inform, educate and advocate for Central Coast Families in preconception through the first year of parenting. The CCCN aims to connect professionals to the community through programs and events by reducing barriers to support and encouraging a deeper community experience. This program produces and distributes educational materials and infographics hosts the Expos, and leads the CCCN presence in community-based events. This program serves individuals and families on the Central Coast in person and virtually.

CCCN to Professionals "CtP"

This program has a focus to inform, educate and advocate for CCCN birth and wellness professionals who serve preconception through the first year of parenting clients. The CCCN aims to connect, support, and inspire these diverse professionals through membership benefits/services, and programs such as coffee and member connections, CCCN newsletter and podcast, and business/educational events such as inclusive language workshops, and mission, vision and/or values or tools workshops.  This program serves birth and wellness professionals and CCCN members on the Central Coast in person and virtually.

Internship

This program is focused on student interns mainly from Cal Poly, who participate in the CtP and PtC programs to inform, educate and advocate for Central Coast families and professionals in preconception through the first year of parenting. The CCCN connects the interns to the community and birth and wellness professionals through shadowing opportunities, planning, and supporting programs & events, and reducing barriers to entry and awareness of different industries benefiting the community. Often these shadowing and deeper learning opportunities, highlight gaps in birth and wellness care in our community and we offer mentorship and support to understand what is being advocated for on a local, state, and federal level to reduce this and how they can make a difference in their professional and educational paths.

We offer individualized “Learn-by-Doing” opportunities, mentorship, mission, vision, values, and skills assessments to help them with their resumes, grad school applications, and continue their learning about themselves and where they fit into the professional realm in birth and wellness. This program serves the student's educational and personal needs to grow into the next generation of birth and wellness professionals to serve our community by valuing language, empathy, and shared experiences.
