Majoring in Child Development B.S.
Hi everyone! My name is Nicole Frigon and I’m so excited to be joining the CCCN community this quarter. I’m currently a fourth-year Child Development major at Cal Poly, and I’ve always felt drawn to spaces that support children and families, especially during big life transitions.

My passion for child development began back in my early teens when I started working at a kids summer camp. Being a part of their daily adventures, helping them navigate friendships, and cheering them on as they built new skills sparked something in me. I loved watching how children thrive when given the chance to be curious, creative, and cared for. That experience planted the seed that eventually grew into my interest in early childhood development.
Since then, I’ve continued exploring different ways to support families, including my current role working at an endocrinologist’s office. It’s been eye-opening to witness the behind-the-scenes of healthcare and how patient care is coordinated, how communication matters, and how medical environments can either empower or overwhelm people. This job has strengthened my desire to enter the healthcare field with a child- and family-centered mindset, especially in spaces where emotional support and development intersect with medical care.
At Cal Poly, I’ve been especially impacted by my time in the Preschool Learning Lab. Being part of the classroom community and observing how children form attachments and routines has made me even more passionate about the importance of the early years. Not just for the kids, but for the whole family system. That’s what drew me to CCCN.
I’m so excited to be part of this team and to learn from birth professionals, educators, and advocates who support families during such a transformative chapter of life. Whether I’m helping with outreach, supporting educational events, or simply listening and learning, I know this internship will deepen my understanding of maternal and child wellness in powerful ways.
Looking ahead, I plan to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant, specializing in pediatrics or women’s health. I want to create compassionate, culturally responsive spaces for families navigating health challenges or new stages of life. My hope is to blend clinical knowledge with developmental insight and to ensure every patient, from newborns to parents, feels seen and supported.
Thank you so much to CCCN for welcoming me into such a warm, inspiring community. I can’t wait to keep growing, connecting, and learning throughout this experience!
