January 2022 Awareness Month Highlights

CERVICAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH: January is Cervical Health and Awareness month which recognizes the issues related to cervical cancer, HPV disease, and the importance of early detection. Preconception health tests can check for one’s optimal health, including cervical screenings. Visit the National Cervical Cancer Coalition website to learn more and use the hashtag #cervicalhealth or #cervicalhealthawarenessmonth to raise awareness. Reach out to local #cccnmembers in midwifery or medical providers to learn more.

NATIONAL MENTORING MONTH: January is also National Mentoring Month which highlights the importance of mentorship relationships. To learn more about this movement, visit MENTOR National’s website. Here you are able to find additional resources. Use the hashtag #MentoringMonth this month to raise awareness.

In December, we also celebrated 729 intern hours since June 2021. See the Instagram post here that highlights our interns! CCCN interns dedicate their time to shadowing local #cccnmembers and other community members supporting families on the Central Coast, help create content for our website and blog, co-host CCCN events, and more! We invite you to read our blog where CCCN interns, Megan and Morgan, wrote about their experiences with us. Read Megan’s Part 1 of her story here and Morgan’s Part 1 here.

If you want to learn more about folic acid and its importance in pregnancy, check out the CDC’s website and additional resource.

GLOBAL FAMILY DAY:

Not just on January 1st, but any chance we can is a good day to spend with loved ones. Visit happydays365.org and/or nationaltoday.com to learn more about this day.

Celebrating Global Family Day is quite simple. The primary thing to be done on this Day is by gathering in families to share love and peace.

There are ways that you can safely gather with family during the COVID-19 pandemic. Have a virtual gathering party! Meet over Zoom or Facetime to connect with family far and wide. Or have a small gathering party and get active outdoors. Try out a new hike or take a drive to the beach and explore. There are so many places to explore along the Central Coast, and who knows, it may become your family’s next favorite destination!

Share your family day celebrations on social media using the hashtag #GlobalFamilyDay.
